Safety Education

  • Don’t text and drive. You’re 23 times more likely to crash while texting. It takes your eyes off the road on average of five seconds at a time. At 55 mph, that’s like driving the length of a football field—completely blind. It’s like driving after having four beers. Put down your cell phone, your life is more important than any message.

  • Everyone has different preferences when it comes to transportation, but there's one that all road users share—everyone is a pedestrian.

  • Motorcyclists have all the same rights and privileges as any motor vehicle driver on the roadway. During Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in May – and during the rest of the year – drivers of all other vehicles and all road users are reminded to safely “share the road” with motorcyclists, and to be extra alert to help keep motorcyclists safe. Motorcyclists are reminded to make themselves visible to other motorists.

  • You are better off riding with the flow of traffic, not against it. Crash data tells us that getting hit from behind is extremely unlikely. You are more predictable and visible to motorists, especially at intersections and driveways.
